FAQ

What is SCAPE?

SCAPE’s objective is to help create more high growth, job creating companies in Southwest Colorado. We do this by providing access to funding and education to start-ups and early stage ventures.

How does the program work?

SCAPE is an intensive 6 month program which provides selected ventures with access to an equity investment, office space, mentoring and a proven curriculum that prepares the entrepreneurs to go-to-market and raise financing, and follow on support after “graduation”.

How is the program made possible?

The program is supported by local investors and mentors as well as the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Region 9, La Plata Economic Development Alliance, the City of Durango,  the Small Business Development Center and many local banks and businesses.

Do I need to quit my job?

The 6 month program is very intensive with weekly classes, presentations, guest speakers and impromptu sessions.  We understand that starting a business is often juggled with other obligations.  The more you put into your start up company and SCAPE, the more you will get out of it.

Do I need to be at the SCAPE office space?

SCAPE companies work out of R Space on 2nd Avenue. If you live outside of Durango, the program is flexible and we try to accommodate everyone’s schedule.

Can the SCAPE Investment be use to pay start u salaries?

You will be asked to provide a detailed budget of how any investment into your company would be utilized.  Reasonable expenses to help the business are acceptable.

Do companies need to pay back the SCAPE Investment?

The SCAPE Investment Fund is partnering with you for a small equity stake to help build your success.
