Meet Matt the Co-Founder of Solvent, a banking tech solution for merchant information management and compliance. Learn how this experienced payments processing team took their industry knowledge to help the underserved MRB industry, which they have now grown into solutions for small-to-medium businesses too.
Q: What’s your name, title, business?
A: Matt Ozvat, Chief Product Officer/Co-Founder, Solvent.
Q: What does your business do?
A: Solvent is a compliance-driven fintech company transforming how banks manage their merchant accounts needing payments and banking services. We work closely with small-to-medium business owners assisting with their banking and payment’s compliance requirements.
Specifically, Solvent’s platform was built to provide services for industries requiring strict levels of compliance and monitoring such as the Marijana Related Business industry. Our platform also provides services to traditional businesses such as Restaurant or Retail merchant locations.
Q: Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey.
A: My journey has been filled with new and continuous learning, non-stop action with tireless dedication! There have been days of exhaustion and self-doubt, but the most amazing part of the journey has been the inspiration I receive from my friends and colleagues. I would not have been able to resolve many of the classic entrepreneur challenges without a great support network and that has been the most exciting part of my journey!
Q: What was the most powerful lesson you learned on this journey?
A: As an entrepreneur I have had to wear many hats in the business. Oftentimes, I am required to quickly learn a new aspect of the business where I have no knowledge. This unknown requires bravery and confidence to learn and implement successfully. The most powerful lesson is understanding that entrepreneurs must be confident with a lifestyle of quickly learning the unknowns.
Q: Why did you apply for the SCAPE Program?
A: We applied to SCAPE needing their curriculum and program to prepare Solvent for growth. We also applied to SCAPE because Solvent has and wants to continue to have a future in creating jobs in the SW CO area, especially Durango.
Q: What companies inspire you the most (local, national, worldwide)?
A: The US Armed forces are an amazing source of inspiration. They are experts at creating teams of people, teaching discipline and creativity to achieve goals. I use many veteran resources to help face the new challenges of today and tomorrow for inspiration.
Q: What do you love most about the Four Corners?
A: You know honestly; the people are most amazing, then the scenery! :)
