SCAPE has partnered with the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) and Generation USA to offer a free, online “IT Support Specialist” training program for folks in our area! The program will teach learners technical skills, soft skills, and offer the support they need to succeed. They collaborate with tech companies nation-wide to find out what roles are open. Then, Generation USA creates a learning experience that uses practical, hands-on learning in a fast-paced, online-first format to make learners’ credentials appealing to these employers.

Generation USA staff provides instructional support and career and life coaching during the program, based on students’ needs. And after they've successfully completed the program, our partners will assist them with the next phase of their career journey by helping them to find full-time employment, internships, apprenticeships, or continuing your education. They'll also be part of a growing alumni network of graduates.

We are excited to be involved in Generation USA’s very first rural cohort model! Students will be learning alongside others in the Durango area and 3 other rural communities across the US. This could be a life changing opportunity. However, we only have 10-15 spots available for Durango, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, Mancos, Dolores, Silverton, Bayfield, so potential learners are encouraged to sign-up soon if they are interested. Eligibility requirements can be found here, but most folks 18+ with a high school diploma or GED are welcome to sign up!

“The hero of any office, an IT Support Specialist keeps technology running smoothly so that businesses can get the job done. As a technician, you’ll turn technology frustrations into solutions, identifying issues and troubleshooting when one of your colleagues is having technology problems. In addition to communication and teamwork skills, you’ll graduate from Generation with certifications that will make you a valued member of any team.”

Program Details: 12 Weeks - Monday - Friday, 9AM-5PM - Fully Online

       Tentative Start Date: June 9, 2021

Industry-Recognized Certifications: CompTIA A+ / CompTIA ITF+

We know this is a major commitment for someone to pursue. We will do our best to accommodate students, so they are able to participate. We are currently exploring local resources to eliminate any barriers that interested students may face.
