John Rankin

John Rankin has over 50 years’ experience in business and entrepreneurship. For 35 years his business was artificial insemination in cattle - three businesses in three states. He introduced sexed semen and a biotech mastitis control product among many others. In 2015 he was awarded the 500,000-unit award by the National  Association of Animal Breeders, one of only 55 to receive that award at that time. He then sold the businesses in 2018.  

In 2007, John was one of the original members of SAGE (Social Advisory Growth for Entrepreneurs) in Ft. Collins and Boulder, Colorado. Since then, he has mentored 22 startups.

John has been a Board Member of the Larimer County Colorado Agriculture Advisory Board, Grand County Colorado Planning Commission, Legacy Land Trust Project Identification Team, Colorado Registered Appraiser, and Nordic Ski Coach at Middle Park High School.  

He has spent 40 years in Colorado and lived in Greeley, Ft. Collins, Granby and now Durango. 

John’s expertise is in Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Small Business Management. He holds a BS English Degree from Illinois State University; Graduate Work Animal Science University of Illinois.
