Meet Agolix

Meet the SCAPE Company, Agolix, an assessment generation tool for B2B companies that helps make the process of gaining feedback that much easier. Learn more about this new-to-Durango company and how they’re embracing the nuances of entrepreneurship to learn and grow.

Q: What’s your name, title, and business?

A: Jennifer Sparks, CEO, Agolix

Q: What does your company do?

A: Agolix® is a B2B SaaS tool that lets you easily create online surveys, quizzes, and assessments that provide customized feedback to each respondent. We’ve designed Agolix to offer a tangible way for small business owners, coaches, and consultants to demonstrate their expertise to their ideal clients.

Q: Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey.

A: After doing well in the defense industry, I wanted to try something that could make a positive impact. When my mother-in-law got sick and needed someone to take over her SaaS company, we dove right in. I was drawn to the chance to help small business owners grow their businesses, so we went all out for it. My husband Witt, who's our CTO, spent two years rewriting every bit of code (that's a whopping 70,000 lines!). Now, we're working with clients in more than 40 countries worldwide.

Q: What was the most powerful lesson you learned on this journey?

A: We're all aware that being an entrepreneur means facing setbacks and unexpected challenges. Figuring out how to recover from failures and adjust to changes has been really important. As someone who used to aim for perfection, accepting failure as a chance to learn has been a humbling and liberating experience.

Q: Why did you apply for the SCAPE Program?

A: We applied for the SCAPE Program to connect with other entrepreneurs and to learn the best practices for growing our business.

Q: What companies inspire you the most (local, national, worldwide)?

A: I really appreciate how HubSpot goes all out to help out small and medium-sized businesses with what they offer. Apple's constant leadership in various tech markets and its quick response to customer issues is also something I admire. On a local level, I'm a fan of EsoTerra for their efforts in bringing life back to local orchards, offering a tasty variety of ciders, and using their downtown location to bring people together for events that back local entrepreneurship.

Q: What do you love most about Southwest Colorado?

A: What’s not to love? We love that we can easily enjoy outdoor activities, have what we need close by, be part of a friendly community, meet fellow business folks, and enjoy the local history and cultural events. Plus, we're big fans of Animas High School, where our son goes.
