Spoke to Join SCAPE 2021 Cohort

SCAPE is happy to announce another company joining it’s 2021 cohort. Will Bodewes, a young professional in Durango, CO, made his way through the entrepreneurial ecosystem landing his business at SCAPE. We are eager to work with Will and share his journey to our program with the help of the SBDC and Fort Lewis College Center for Innovation.

Will Bodewes is a recent graduate of the University of New Hampshire and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a mechanical engineering degree. His company, Spoke, transforms a canvas wrapped photograph into a brilliant sounding speaker. These speakers take a fundamentally different approach to creating sound that fills a room in a way that other speakers can't. Spoke’s speakers are battery powered and equipped with the latest Bluetooth technology so they can hang on a wall and remain indistinguishable from a photo; that is, until you need them to be.

Will found his way into the SW Colorado business ecosystem by first connecting with John Kovacs of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. John shared the contact information of Mary Shepherd of the Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center Director to help steer his path towards localized business support. Will was then able to connect with Mary who then led Will to SCAPE.

“We are very excited for Will Bodewes to have the opportunity to join this year’s SCAPE cohort. When clients come into the SBDC for assistance, we always look to match them with the best resources and opportunities for them to grow and expand their businesses. Sometimes that means consulting and training provided by the SBDC and sometimes it means introducing them to our entrepreneurial and economic development partners in the region and across the state. Being co-located with SCAPE in the new Fort Lewis College Center of Innovation makes it easier for both of our organizations to more quickly and efficiently provide businesses with the tools they need for where they are now and where they want to go. We look forward to watching Will’s journey and will be here if he needs our assistance down the road.” - Mary.

We look forward to the addition of Will to our cohort and his drive to find the resources needed to build a business in Southwest Colorado. To see the entire 2021 SCAPE Cohort, click here.
