Peter Provost
A self-described autodidact polymath, Peter Provost has a natural inclination towards exploration and learning. At a young age, Peter taught himself computer programming and has continued to expand his knowledge in various domains, including music, cooking, electrical engineering, carpentry, auto mechanics, 3D modeling and printing and more. Peter’s dynamic energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and he constantly seeks out new opportunities for personal growth and helping others.
Since the mid-80s, Peter has resided in Colorado and received a BSc in Computer Science from CSU in 1992. He is drawn to the state's natural beauty and engages in outdoor activities such as hiking, snowboarding, fly fishing, and camping. Peter loves SW Colorado and in 2021, during the COVID pandemic, moved his family to the Durango area permanently.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Peter has worked in tech and startups, co-founding several technology ventures in Denver. He has also led product development teams at Microsoft's Developer & Azure cloud divisions and helped establish a few "internal startups" within the company. Peter excels at problem-solving using technology, particularly in situations where others perceive the problem as insurmountable.
His focus over the years has been leading product and engineering teams to solve customer problems. Peter's extensive experience building cloud, mobile and desktop application targeting sectors such as finance, developer & IT tools, and business productivity & reporting has made him a valuable asset to the teams and products he’s led. Most recently, Peter has focused on IoT/embedded solutions and their implications for non-tech related businesses such as manufacturing, agriculture, asset tracking and building/facility/land management and monitoring.
